Pear is a delicious and nutritious fruit among the abundant fruits in Turkey. Pears are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, providing many health benefits.

Pears taste sweet and can be consumed raw and used as a side dish alongside sweet and salty foods. It can also be finished in many ways, such as jam, marmalade, pickles, and compote.

Wide different pear varieties are grown in Turkey. Some are Beurre Bosc, Bartlett, Conference, Red Bartlett, Starkrimson, Forelle, Abate Fetel, and Williams.

Pears are also very beneficial for health, rich in vitamin C, potassium, fiber, and antioxidants. Pear consumption can support digestive health, regulate blood sugar, lower cholesterol levels and strengthen the immune system.

In Turkey, pears are usually harvested in August and September, taking their place on the tables with different cooking and consumption methods. For those looking for natural and healthy foods, pears are an excellent choice.

What are the Pear Varieties?

There are two different types or varieties that we export. These include Deveci, and Santa Maria is located.

Deveci

Deveci pear is one of the leading pear varieties in Turkey. It is known for its high productivity and sweet, juicy texture. The shell of the egg-shaped fruits is thin and yellow. Fruit flesh is white and quite juicy. It is harvested in September and used for making jam, marmalade, compote, and fresh consumption. Deveci pear is grown in various regions of Turkey and is produced in abundance.

Santa Maria

The Santa Maria pear variety is known for its delicious taste and aroma. The peel of the pear is thin and smooth; its color is greenish-yellow. The inside of the fruit is juicy and sweet. Santa Maria pear is also widely grown in Turkey. It is grown mainly in cities such as Bursa, İzmir, Manisa, and Aydın. Harvested towards the end of August, this pear variety is used for fresh consumption and making jams, marmalades, and pickles.
